Style Tips for Mens Trousers
- Know your NATURAL WAIST: Many guys, particularly over the past decade or so, have started wearing the pants very low on their waist. While it might feel a bit stuffy to wear your pants at your natural waist, it looks more mature. To find your natural waist, measure about 2 to 3 inches below your belly button.
- To PLEAT or NOT TO PLEAT: This is probably the most confusing thing for guys new to fashion. These days, it’s a matter of taste, but pleats are best on slimmer guys. If you choose to wear pants (or trousers, as they are called in Europe) with pleats, one is all you need; and you should make sure the crease follows directly down the center of the leg.
- To CUFF or NOT TO CUFF: Currently, there is no rule about trousers with cuffs. However, if you want to wear trousers with cuffs, be sure that they are no longer than 1.5”.
- A pant LEG should be as long as your NATURAL LEG: Pants should nearly touch the ground if you wear them barefoot. You can buy jeans that are a little longer because it is highly likely that they will shrink.
- Think about the whole OUTFIT: Remember that your pants and socks should the same or similar in color. Your shoes should be the same shade as your pants or darker and your belt should correspond with your shoes.
